Testosterone is used in hypogonadism, where a man’s body does not produce enough of the hormone. Supplementing it aims to ease symptoms linked to low hormone levels.
Exogenous androgen brings hormone levels back towards the physiological range in men with primary or secondary hypogonadism. Muscle mass, bone density and standard metabolic function are supported as a result.
Testosterone Topical 1% is a gel in sachets at 1% strength, part of the hormone therapy range. The gel is absorbed through the skin. Pharmacy partners in India ship orders to Malaysia in discreet packaging.
Testosterone should not be used by men with known or suspected prostate cancer or breast cancer, or by anyone hypersensitive to it. Keep the gel away from women and children, and wash hands thoroughly after applying it. Prostate-specific antigen levels are monitored during treatment, and periodic blood tests may be required.
Minor side effects include application site reactions, skin irritation and acne. Increased blood pressure, changes in lipid profile and haematocrit changes can also occur. Venous thromboembolism and worsening sleep apnoea are serious and need immediate medical attention. Testosterone interacts with oral anticoagulants and corticosteroids. Use in pregnancy is contraindicated.
