Parasitic Worm Infection
Parasitic worm infection is caused by helminths that live in the digestive tract or other body tissues. Some people carry worms without obvious illness. The infection can be light or heavy.
Medicine used to treat Parasitic Worm Infection
Key points
- Several worm types can affect people, including roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms and pinworms.
- Infection is more common in warm, humid conditions where contaminated soil helps spread it.
- Anaemia and poor nutrition can follow a heavy or long-running infection, and children are especially at risk.
How infection spreads
Most intestinal worms are swallowed in contaminated food, water or soil. Hookworms can pass through unbroken skin. Once inside the body, worms settle in the gut or other tissues.
Signs and symptoms
When symptoms appear, they can include stomach pain, bloating, nausea, diarrhoea and tiredness. A heavier worm load is more likely to cause noticeable symptoms.
Treatment
A short course of an antiparasitic medicine is usual. Albenza 400 mg tablets contain albendazole, an antiparasitic medicine used for helminthiasis, giardiasis and parasitic worm infection. Orders are shipped from pharmacy partners in India to Malaysia in discreet packaging.
When to get medical advice
A doctor should assess you if symptoms continue or worsen after treatment, if worms are visible in stool, if there is severe abdominal pain, or if weight loss has no clear cause.
