Duloxetine is not suitable for everyone. It may not be suitable if you have epilepsy, heart disease, glaucoma, or a history of mania.
Some side effects are serious and need urgent medical attention. Very low mood and having suicidal thoughts is one. Serotonin syndrome is another, causing a fast heartbeat, sweating, shaking, twitching muscles and feeling confused or agitated. An allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) can bring a swollen throat or tongue, a raised itchy rash and difficulty breathing. High moods (mania or hypomania) can also occur, such as feeling very happy, excited or energetic.
